ARC Review: Cursed Boys and Broken Hearts

Grant once wished on the famous Wishing Rose located on his family’s vineyard property, and since then he’s been cursed. His relationships never work out, and his actual work is suffering from lack of inspiration. So he flees Chicago and runs back to where it all began, back to his family’s now-fading vineyard and the first boy he ever loved, to try to save the vineyard and himself. 

This was a good read. There was a lot of complexity to the story and the characters. The setting was beautifully described and felt like a real place I would like to visit. I was absolutely cheering for Grant and Ben’s happiness, but I also found myself caring about the other characters and their happiness. I would recommend this book. 

ARC Review: Ladykiller

Gia and Abby are forever friends, brought even closer by a terrifying tragedy, but now physically distant due to job and location. Abby jumps on the chance to meet up in Sweden with Gia and her brother, but upon arriving, finds Gia hasn’t made it there. This takes them to Greece, where they find Gia’s mysterious manuscript, but no Gia.

This is a really twisty book, with a lot of surprises. I found myself constantly questioning everything, which I really enjoy in a thriller. The characters were each a unique entity in their own right, and the settings were beautifully described. I would recommend this book. 

ARC Review: Storm Warning

A massive hurricane is heading towards the island Jake has been living on. This island is occupied by a small group of people who are struggling in life, even more so now that the hurricane is arriving. Things get even worse when Jake finds his best friend Dallas murdered in his apartment, and realizes there’s a killer among them.

So look, this book sounds like it should have all the suspense in the world, right? The problem is, it doesn’t. It’s a lot of running up stairs, going into apartments, talking about the storm, and running down stairs. The ending felt like a bit of a letdown too, the solution to the mystery not living up to its own promise. I have really liked other Bell books, but wouldn’t recommend this one. 

ARC Review: The Unwedding

 I received a copy of this book from the publisher and Novel Suspects Insiders.

Instead of celebrating her twentieth wedding anniversary, Ellery is alone at the Resort-exactly where a wedding is currently taking place. But when the groom dies, and then another guest, Ellery and the remaining guests must figure out what is going on before one of them is next.

This is a book with a lot of unique and interesting characters, including many to root for. The setting is beautifully depicted. The mystery is a good one, with a lot of tension. I would recommend this book. 

ARC Review: Two Sides to Every Murder

Camp Lost Lake is reopening, drawing Olivia and Reagan there. It was the site of some horrifying murders seventeen years ago, murders Olivia was born during and which Reagan’s mother was believed to have committed. But there are secrets threatening to come to light, and a murderer who would do anything to stop that.

This is a really good book, super gripping and scary. The murderer operates a bow and arrow, and seems to be anywhere at any time, really putting the characters in true and terrifying danger. The mystery is highly suspenseful, with twists and turns, and the ending is definitely one that will stick with you. I would definitely recommend this book.
